That’s certainly The biggest disappointment when the second lock-down has been announced : we can’t celebrate Halloween with friends.
In those troubled days, we are looking for any occasions to celebrate and put some magic in our daily routines : board games night, zen night, movie night… Halloween is the perfect excuse for magic with all the fantasies and stories. The Halloween recipes, spooky stories, sweets and costumes, they are the perfect way to change our minds.
That’s why we won’t give up. We’ll have to change some of our plans but we’ll be able to make a party with just the 4 of us.
If there is something that won’t change, it’s the idea of a healthier and more eco friendly Halloween party.
That’s why I’m sharing with you some Halloween recipes you can try for a healthier and earthier party !
100% organic and plant-based candies
Halloween is usually a nightmare for vegetarians since most sweets are made with animal gelatins. If some brands made some “gelatin free” candies, there are still too many colours or wrapping with them. That’s why I’ve decided to cook some homemade candies this year.
Here are the 2 recipes I’d like to try.
Express Halloween candies recipe
Preparation : 5 min
Ingredients :
- 10 tablespoons of apple juice
- 4 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 200 g of white sugar
- 1 coffee spoon of agar-agar
- some natural coloring (like spirulina)
- Mix the apple juice, the lemon juice and the sugar in a saucepan. Let it boil for 5 minutes. Then add the agar-agar and stir it well.
- Divide the mixture in several bowls and add the coloring.
- You just have to pour the mixture in silicone mould or ice cubes moulds and let it cool for at least 2 hours before unmolding.
- You can roll them in sugar to be yummier !

Pumpkin seeds Halloween recipe
Of course we are going to dig and decorate our pumpkins and we’ll savour a delicious pumpkin soup.
Which will be new this year is we are not going to waste anything since the pumpkins seeds are going to be used as appetizers.
Just keep in mind you’ll have to begin the recipe the day before.
- Clean the pumpkin seeds : wash and dry them.
- Put them on a tray and let them dry all night.
- Heat your oven at 180°c
- Put the seeds on a hotplate and stir them all with a mixture of oil and spices (like paprika, turmeric, cimin, chili…)
- Put them in the oven for 20 minutes (until they are golden)
You can eat them warm or cold. Store them in a airtight jar (to keep them crusty)
